We brought our daughter to her friend’s birthday party yesterday and my friend (the dad) showed me around his basement wood shop. He had several more tools than I do like a band saw, bench grinder, lathe, and 2 router tables (the kind like you get at a home store). He had 2 router tables because he found them online and the price was too good to pass up. Well,we were leaving and he told me he would just give me one. I was very excited about this, let me tell you, because I’ve been needing one and have been looking at some simple plans recently and figuring out how in the world I was going to afford to build one. Well, this one will work out great until I can make a nice one on my own.
It’s an old benchtop Craftsman router table. He had a Ryobi one as well which he was going to give me, but then he realized that the screw hole pattern in the Craftsman table didn’t match his Ryobi router. Well, I happen to have a Craftsman router which was graciously given to me by another LJ a year ago.
So, it’s obviously old, but not bad for being free. I just have to buy some bolts to attach the router to the table. It has a dust collection port which would be nice if I had dust collection. That, of course, is on the list.
I will build a base for it and make it about the same height as my table saw.
