« Part 1: what I hope it will look like Part 2 of Arrow of light series Part 3: Did A LOT better today »

Template, just before routing When routing out the pockets, I use a 1/4” bit with a bigger guide to get the bulk of the work done bigger bit and guide to do most of the work
Well I was in a rush and used the wrong guide, Now what do I do?
Spend $15 and get new wood, or spend hours cutting custom “plugs”?
I use heat shrink tubing on the inlay bushing to “tighten” up the inlay.
Then when I used the inlay guide
inlay guide with heat shrink
the bushing wouldn’t stay on.(I got a new one ordered)
Then the double stick tape wouldn’t stick. Everything went well after that.
I was able to get most of the “rays” fitted. (i leave them “proud” and sand flush)
just 2 of the rays
I have to use an exacto knite to get the corners “square”.
Man thats hard on the back

Holly cow i82 – now I feel bad for what I made for our scouts – if you can make the “arrow of light” award like those – those scouts should be well pleased – mine are not near that fancy. Even with a readjustment that you had to make – looks like your really coming along. (PS – heat pad works great for the back)
These are the ones I made – they do not have any finish on them yet. I may need to borrow your jig.

You could also pick up a small corner chisel on ebay or wherever to assist you with those corners.

I wish I could use a corner chisel, but there isn’t a “corner” that is 90 degres
It took me about 40 some hours to make and “perfect” the jig.
Just wish I had spent some time making it IDIOT (me) proof
