I got a call from a fellow LJ a month back stating he would be heading through my area and would like to stop by and see me and my trucks and tractors in person. Now I have a new friend that we have shared more than a few typed words with. I am going to make it a point to look up fellow members and attempt to visit them as we travel around this world. I feel it will make all of us closer. BTW Huntsville, AL Woodworkers show is 4/23,24 & 25/ 10 Maybe we will meet there. Doug Perkins {Hunter71}

Hunter, that is pretty cool. That is such a great idea. I love the way you openly welcome folks to come by for a visit. It reminds me of when I was a kid growing up in Pell City, Alabama. We almost always had company coming over for a visit at our house growing up. We always had a cup of coffee or a glass of tea ready and waiting for folks when they would stop in. These days, I barely know my neighbors names. I have to wonder if the world wouldn’t be a nicer – AND SAFER – place, if folks took the time to get to know each other and look out for each other more. I will have to come to Mentone soon and stop by and pay you a visit. Consider yourself invited to stop by the next time you get down close to Birmingham.

You find out Lumberjocks are really great people and not just bs’ers on a typewriter heh? Not just me but a bunch of us found that out the first time we got together to have a picnic last fall in Lansing, it was like we were old friends and already knew each other. Really a spooky feeling, but very true. I feel real lucky to have a couple of them coming to my place to learn, ya right, turning skills. It’s great, they are great people and I look forward to our meeting each week. Hey that’s an idea, how about a regular lumberjock meeting each week? We ought to chew that one over!!!

Love it when we LJ’s can get together. More and more we are in an electronic age. At least this way, we are meeting people and getting to know one another. Meeting in person is a BIG bonus.

You mentioned woodworker show this weekend in Huntsville. My sawdust buddy and I went to the big annual woodworker show in Tampa a few weeks ago. It was excellent! My first time and much better than I was expecting. I really liked the Carter Guide (band saw demo), and the Kreg Jig demo, and the crown molding demo—just to name a few. Have fun this weekend!
