There are a few Lumber Jocks here in “The Great State of Florida” and over the 2012 Memorial Day Weekend, I decided to take a trip to meet Jeremy Greiner. So I jumped on the ol’ iron horse, and rode my Harley north west from Melbourne which is located on the east coast to Apopka.

Jeremy’s got a sweet setup in his double car garage from which he makes all those wonder projects he post about. Plus he does it in style by the use of a “mini split” AC unit in the workshop. The Saturday I visited was one of the first real hot days we had had, yet that AC made his workshop very comfy.
During the few hours we spent together, Jeremy showed me all his toys – he has lots of nice tools for certain. Jeremy finds himself smack dab in the middle of three “drug pushers” that are more then willing to feed his wood working addiction; Home Depot, Lowes and Harbour Freight! He had recently finished his shop vac system and was telling me of some issues he would have to work out. And I learned a little about his software business that brought him to Florida.

One of the first post I read about Jeremy long ago included comments about Google Sketch Up. I’ve yet to master it and so I brought over a photo of something my wife would like me to make. While I still don’t understand how to use Sketch UP, Jeremy does and made it look so easy. I only had general, over all dimensions of the item and was guessing at specifics. Sketch Up showed us that my guesses were incorrect and that the project would not come together had I simply began cutting wood to those lengths. No wonder my projects turn out like they do! It’s a neat program and thanks to Jeremy, I hope to begin using it soon.

I hope to saddle up and meet other LJ’s here in Florida. As I do, I’ll be certain write a little post about it.

I can’t wait to see how it turns out it was a really cool design you found there, it was fun figuring out the dimensions on how everything worked.
