Quite a bit of time has elapsed since the handsawgeek has posted here, mostly because the last month and a half has been so dog-gone crazy! Shop time has been sparse to non-existent.

To start things off, the handsawgeek household was paid a visit by our old buddy, Influenza-B.

May is usually a busy month around our house, what with Mother’s Day, our Wedding Anniversary, and two of our daughter’s birthdays, all within a 3 week span!

Then, there’s the gardening and yardwork…yikes! We had a late spring snowstorm here in Colorado that happened right when everything was in the middle of budding and sprouting. It trashed a lot of shrubs and perennial flowers, so a major amount of time has been spent removing and replacing those. This past weekend, I finally got around to cleaning up the water feature in the back yard, fired up the pump, and got the goldfish transferred out from their indoor winter quarters.

Nonetheless, I found, rather carved-out, some time yesterday to clean the rust off a group of socket chisels and random tools that have been accumulating in the ‘for-refurb’ box. I’m ready to start grinding and honing new edges, replacing handles that are still serviceable, and turning new handles for a couple others. I’ll post some pics when they are done.

Anyway, it was great to finally have some shop time!

Ah, Rusty: our mutual old friend. How we despise him so. :)

I have some rust removal work to do, as well. The average humidity level in the dungeon is now in the 70% and above, so Rusty has been around. I bought some recommended chemical treatment a couple of months ago, so no excuses, right?

I hope everyone is well in your neck of the woods. Let me know if you need a tag-team partne against Rusty. ;)
