“The scurviest band of blackguards to ever sails before the mast, we be!…” -An Anonymous Pirate

This week’s blog post is not entirely related to woodworking.

Because it is all about my favorite day in September, of course:

International Talk Like A Pirate Day !!

I always prepare for this much-anticipated event with my annual reading of “Treasure Island” and visiting the TLAP sites on the Wonderful World Wide Web.

The week leading up to the ‘big day’ finds me brushing up on my ‘pirate-ese’ while commuting to work, practicing my guttural ‘Ahoys’, and ‘Avasts’, and ‘Aaaaaars’, as well as working on the proper ‘pirate’ grammar, sentence structure, and subtle voice inflections.

Why do I do this?

OK, so this blog post is not entirely devoid of woodworking stuff… I did spend the time drilling, whittling, and shaping a cutlass and a peg leg for fierce and dastardly…...’Cap’n ike’…

So if I say, “Shiver me timbers”, is that enough to qualify on a woodworking site?

Aye… and if ye be urgin’ a bilge rat to be a’walkin’ the plank, or if ye be a’ walkin’ the plank ye-self, ye be a woodworker…of sorts.
