In Praise of Cigar Boxes
"I'm a smoker only when I'm on fire…" -Anonymous
I have an affinity for cigar boxes.
Not only are they intrinsically attractive, but they provide an excellent method of organizing and storing hardware, small parts, accessories, and tools in the workshop.
The nicer ones - those made of finished wood complete with hinges and hasps, are reserved for sets of small tools.
Most importantly, they are in compliance with the handsawgeek's stringent 'Hand Tool Only / No Plastics Zone' rule.
Recently, a happy discovery was made that feeds this penchant for cigar boxes-
A local tobacco shop keeps a table at the front of their store where they offer empty ones for $2 apiece!
Niiiice!
