Still Hanging Around

Hi, Blog-Watchers,

I just happened to notice that I haven’t posted on here since July.

What a slacker.

Ok, here are the excuses:

First, I’m still deeply involved with model rocketry, and have been devoting a lot of time to that endeavor. The bug bit REALLY hard! Also with my innate need to write about my hobbies, I maintain a blog on that subject over on blogspot.com

Secondly, I happened to notice that the stairs on my back patio are falling apart. Rotted stair stringers.

So, I have been busy on good weather days working that project. I have the whole sha-bang dis-assembled and have cut new stringers and side supports. At least I’m doing some form of woodworking! I’ve even been using hand tools for some of it.

For instance, all of the screws holding the Trex steps in place were removed using my old breast drill as a screw driver. My daughter had borrowed the electric drill/driver and I couldn’t get in contact with her that particular day.

The stringers were cut using the circular saw. Not about to try that with a hand saw…..

Anyway, today I will be going down to the paint store to get some outdoor sealant so I can get started on prepping and re-constructing those steps.

My third excuse is a big one:

I was laid off from my job back at the start of February, so a lot of time has been spent at the computer – job hunting.

I still have a lot of woodworking projects in the wings that have been on hold since last year. Still haven’t forgotten about that Gerber Hardware storage shelf I started way back when. Also have a few vintage tools needing restoration.

I will be posting more here when things settle down.

Cheers!

-- Ed

Very good many years ago my son was interested in them and we lunched a mouse in one.
The motors were called Estes or similar, sadly the “do Gooders” managed to ruin it for everybody and they are all but banned in AUST

Darn do-gooders!!

I am lucky to be living in the area where the hobby began back in 1958. Colorado passed some of the first ever model rocket permissive legislation in the 1960s, due to the efforts of the hobby’s founders in Denver and Colorado Springs. I am also within an hour and a half drive of Estes Industries in Penrose, CO.
