well i for one plan on using my economic stimulus package to stimulate the woodworking community, and plan to buy a few tools. today i picked up a good old steel shovel with a wood handle and a damn fine looking hoe for only $4.00!! its tough to find a good hoe these days for $2 and this one had a very nice fresh coat of paint on it, the gentleman selling it took his time. in fact all his rakes, shovels and hoes looked great standing tall on the side of the road… its what got me to stop!
really tho, i am planning to get a few tools, and have my eye on some Joinery Floats from Lie-Nielsen. my question to all of you is… what are the advantages of a push or pull face float? my assumption would be that you could put a pull face float into the bottom tight corner of a blind mortise and pull out, hopefully, getting all material up to that corner tooth.
i also have my eye on the Popular Woodworking 2000-2007 PDF DVD because i love all my documents as search able, printable PDF files! The Woodworking Magazin CD is also looking good too!
other than that, i have a few feelers out for some real tools: an adze, a froe, a drawknife, a bunch of wedges, and a better axe. i have access to some homegrown wood, but i cannot do anything without the right tools! if any of you have good sources for some of these please chime in, or if you have an extra one you’d be willing to donate or trade!

I think a lot of us on here are going to be putting the check into tools. Sounds like you have your list all made out. It is kind of like an early Christmas.

Seems obvious, but ebay would be the place to check for some of the tools you are searching for.
On the floats I would email (check their contact page) Larry at Clark and Williams and ask him about the float difference. They are the one’s who design the floats for Lie-Nielson. I stumbled upon them years ago and have had a set of their floats which I find valuable around the shop.
They are real easy to communicate with and will provide you good information.
This is the second time I mentioned them in a post within a week and just would like to state that I’m not connected to Clark and Williams in any way except for the fact of being a very satisfied customer.
