no previous part Part 1 of New office/shop space series no next part

So I am lucky enough to work from home every day. I have wanted a dual purpose dedicated office / shop space for a while. This will allow me to focus on both crafts and get me out of my garage. Last year I built an ~ 10’ x 16’ building on the backside of our property. Right now I have one wall framed up to accept 2 windows I have had lying around. On the other long wall I plan to put a long 5’ transom window. This should give me a ton of natural light all day long. On the back wall I am going to frame in to install an in wall air conditioner I purchased a while back. The back wall is probably where I will also put a small lumber rack for whatever project I am currently working on. Stay tuned here for progress. I am doing all the work myself so it may be slow progress but at least I know it will all be done correctly.

Ahh the fun of construction, one of my first jobs was framing houses, still like it to this day, built my favorite Son in Law a garden shed this spring, 10’ by 16’. No windows but did put in a 2’ by 4’ skylight, amazing how much light you get! Windows are nice for the natural light but you loose a lot of wall space. The framing looks to spec. but the one window header looks upside down or is that just the color of the wood?

Yeah That is just the mineral streaks in the pine you see. My father in law builds houses for a living. So I have just picked up stuff going and helping out. It comes in handy to save some money for sure. It just takes me a little longer to get the job done. I will definitely take the tradeoff of wall space for light. My bench will go in front of one of these two windows and I will hang my dutch chest in between the windows via a french cleat so everything will be within arms reach.

Have your say...
