I am a retired United Methodist Minister with a passion for viewing, handling, and shaping fine wood. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 44 years and we have two wonderful grown kids and five grandchildren.

I have a wide variety of interests, including music (especially guitar), reading, photography, travel, and fishing to name just a few. Most of my woodworking skills have been self-taught or learned "on the job" with church disaster recovery teams and overseas mission building teams. Some of the work I have done includes construction framing, building concrete forms, trim carpentry, building utilitarian furniture like toy boxes and shelving, reworking cabinetry in my son's condo, building light furniture, and making decorative boxes. My wife and I have recently moved into an older house that is well-built but has needed some upgrading. That has kept me busy for the last year or so.

The back part of our stand-alone garage serves as my woodworking shop. It is roughly 18' x 18' ( about 325 square feet). When I moved into the new digs I upgraded to a hybrid table saw (previously I used a construction saw). I also upgraded from a benchtop drill press to a floor model. I have a 14" band saw with a riser block, a router table, a mortiser, a sanding station, a scroll saw, a 6" jointer, and 13" surface planer. While it's not the 2000 square foot shop I used to dream of owning, it is a space dedicated to nothing but my woodworking. I look forward to putting it to good use in retirement.
