This bench is 29 13/16” wide, same with as the back trunk
This gives us the same spacing on the top front and back.
The frame will be screwed into the axles at the same spacing.
Now we are just waiting for the interior fabric and the custom mattress to be finished.

Here is my 42” lath with a 42” extension bed set up with 2 48” Vaga duplicators. It is very difficult to set them up perfectly straight. It took 2 hours to set up.

Because there were 2 duplicators there was a section in the middle where we could not get with the first set up.

The turning blank was 4 1/2” x 4 1/2” x 87 3/4” long. Finished size was 3 15/16” in diameter.

We clipped the corners.

A close up of the center.

Second set up cleaning up the center.

Ron and I going to town.

This is showing how we step cut it all the way down.

Ron & Bill going to town.

That is one long puppy.

All cleaned up.

Has anyone ever done a rope turning on a 15” or more radius ? I have been thinking about this for months. It can’t be done on the legacy mill. I don’t know if there is any other way other than carving it by hand. Do any of you talented wood workers know of a way to do this in a repeatable way ?

Going down a 29year memory lane

I was looking through some of the fun projects I have done in 29 years and I put together a slide show. Some of you have seen some of these pictures on my posts, some have not. WARNING This is a very LONG slide show over 800 pictures.I didn’t bother with the descriptions or organizing the pictures, there are just to many of them. I have been blessed with the privilege to do all these fun projects and I love what I do. I hope you all love woodworking as much as I do and I hope you all get the opportunity to make your hard work shine like I did. Best of luck to all of you and god bless.

Movie Lounge 1 #1: Star Frame

This blog is showing how I made the star frame that covers a one-way mirror. Hope you all like it. This is how I cut out all my projects. I don’t use a CNC. I use a Scroll saw and an inverted pin router.

I am cutting it out on a CR Onsrude inverted pin router model 36210.

Being very careful around the tips of the stars.

How the insert mates with the frame.

All joints get bondo because the frame will be painted.

This is how they look together.

This MDF insert Is a one piece template to cut out the actual part. The actual insert will be made from 1/2” Sentra. The face will be a brushed aluminum mica and the back will be a black mica.
I will post more pictures as I go along.
Do you all do the " OLD SCHOOL" full scale layout ?

Even with all the technology out there I still do the “OLD SCHOOL” FULL SCALE LAYOUT. For some reason I can’t get away from it. Even if I draw it on Auto Cad I still put more trust in it than anything else. I would really be interested in your comments. Yesterday I was looking around the shop and allot of 4×8 sheets of plywood had full scale drawings on them, AM I GOING NUTS ? Or does anyone else do this ?

Router bits #1: Paint or no paint

Anyone here ever talk about painted router bits ? I have used many types of router bits over the years and bits without paint seem to last longer than the painted ones. I have unpainted bits that are 3 &4 yrs old, still in good shape. I get most of my bits through Magnate or custom made bits from Wood worker’s tool supply. They don’t paint there bits at all. I was told the paint acts as a blanket and dose not let the bit disperse heat as well, that makes the bit get dull quicker. Just like re cutting saw dust chips will dull your bits quicker. What do you guys think ? I have over $3000 in router bits. They add up just as fast as power tools.
