hello there fellow lumber jocks..guess what…SPRING IS HERE..AND… i would like to propose a gathering…a picnic here at the grizzmans place..i have a nice 2 acre spot in the country that would be perfect for a picnic and a good time to visit…play some horse shoes..and just enjoy a good ole picnic…...i will volunteer to grill the burgers and dogs and make some tatter salad, then i would propose that anyone who comes bring a desert or some other dish…just like a pot luck…im thinking near the end of may, i would like to see if there is an interest in having one…chime in with your thoughts and we can decide on a date when we see if this is going to fly or not…hope there is an interest…it would be the perfect way to start the summer…....grizzman
P.S… im in central alabama, anyone who wants to come would be invited…im setting the date for may 29th..the last saturday of the month…now lets see if anyone wants to come…ive got built2 last i think…come on guys..lets do it and have a great time…p.s…this would be a no alcohol event…

UPDATE- it looks like were getting some good interest here, i would like you jocks to bring your smaller projects so we can see them, and be prepared to give a live tutorial on how you made it..if any of you would like to give an in shop demo, my shop will be available..i have most tools except im short a band saw…now if anyone has a band saw they done need…bring it too…lol…....there will be one raffle…i will have prepared a lumber package to the winner…it will consist of a 8/4 oak and 8/4 heart pine, i would like this to compete with other gatherings..lets make this big..the more jocks..the more projects we can see, and learn from each other.

i am located in central alabama…about 40 miles north of montgomery, and about 60 miles south of birmingham..i am about 6 miles off of I65…....MY EXACT LOCATION IS 314 county road 503, verbena alabama, 36091..if you want to use map quest to give directions…

To Bad you are so far from me! I limit travel to less than 200 miles whenever possible just because it hurts too much to sit that long. Wish I could be there! Good luck, have fun!

I am sure that myself, built2lastkid1 and built2lastkid2 and the rest of the bunch would like to attend as long as its not on the 3rd weekend of the month as that is the weekend that the girls work the show at Tannehill State Park. I keep watching to see what you decide. I just aquired a pecan tree and could bring some small stuff to go in the grill to make things taste “mo better”.

I could probably even bring some picnic tables and some chairs and stuff to use if we have some built up.

I like the idea and would attend. Problem is I won’t be in the USA for the next year. Keep me posted. Doug

G-Man
Call on LJ’s Martin to include your event on the calendar.
I would love to come, but the Left Coast is just a bit far. Only about 3K miles. I will be there in spirit, if not in body and soul.

I’m completely interested, a few hours away in Clinton, MS the drive wouldn’t be too bad. I was just north of you about three weeks ago buying my Subaru outback from a very nice couple.

I’ll have to check my calendar to make sure there’s not a family reunion that weekend.

If me and the Mrs. can make it, I’ll bring the nanner puddin.
