what is a buddy to you

Ive had an experience here at lumber jocks that has caused me to think on this topic today. early this morning i awoke ..it was around 4am…so i went to read my email and catch up with that. I had a private message sent to me, it was entitled apology. This of coarse caught my attention, so i opened it to read and by the time i was done i felt several emotions…one of them was ashamed, the reason being is as i have gone through my life, being a good friend or as we call them here a good buddy, meant something to me,i had a buddy here , who’s name i will not mention, send me a pm , as he wondered if there was something amiss in our relationship as he had not received my usual comments in his post’s or blogs, and i knew right away that i had been wrong , i was his buddy, and i let him down, not that im so important that he must hear from me, but we were buddy’s and it was something i should have done, the word buddy means something important to ME..it means i have so called signed up to be a positive support, to show encouragement, to lift a fellow wood worker up when needed, and to me..try to be a friend, some of my buddies here have gone beyond casual, we are committed friends, i wrote to my buddy and apologized for my lack of commitment. what kind of buddy you are is up to you, and i personally commit to try to be a better buddy, if i have you as a buddy, i get emails telling me when you post a new project or blog, and i will try harder to be the support to you i should be, i will leave this as an open blog, for each of you to respond as to what the word buddy means to you.two of the most important words we can ever say are the words THANK YOU..and i say that to all here at lumber jocks for helping me down to a better road…and for being friends to me, thank you for being my buddy.

P.S. i do not address this to those of you who are my buddy’s because you have not posted to all of my projects, but write this just so maybe it might help us all try just a little harder to be a better buddy..as i have been reminded that we all get busy sometimes with life..i know this is what happened to me on this certain occasion.but it left me to feel i could have done better. grizzman

Hey Grizz
Like family you don’t always hear from on a daily weekly or even yearly basis you still know you care about them and are secure in their Love. Here too on Ljs I have a good number of very good friends( You being high on that list) that you can’t communicate with or comment on their projects because of this thing called LIFE
even though we want to all of our daily chores, work, family etc also take up our life.
So to those I should have been in touch with more know I still consider you with my highest regards and I’m sorry I have not been on top of all your post.

Happy Easter Grizzman.

Re-read your blog. You have defined “buddy” very accurately. :)

Jim is spot-on too. I’m glad I “know” you two and a whole lot of others here on LJ’s. It has made my life fuller.

There is so much posted here that an an hour later you made your post it is 2 pages back. If you check once a day, in the evenings let’s say, you may never know about a good post or great thing built unless it just gets a tremendous amount of hits.

Some have found the secret of being staying on page one is by posting something annoying.

But the point of listing buddies is to get notices when they post and to go offer support. I’ve been lack in doing that and do plan to step it up in the future.

Thanks for reminding me why we’re here, to support each other in our woodworking endeavors and fellowship.

A buddy is someone like you. Someone who PM’s asking how things are, how the family and kids are, and simply wanting to know who the individual on a personal level. There are to many instances where someone PM’s just looking for an answer and then you never hear from them again, unless of course you have another answer. But people like you PM and want to actually be friends. Friends to me eventually become like family. I don’t typically make friends very easily and have always been a loner. But it has been nice to think I have a few friends here on LJ’s if I feel like opening up about things. And I appreciate them for listening. So like I said, a buddy is essentially someone like you Grizz. Thanks for being who you are. Happy Easter to you and to all my buddies and fellow LJ’s

Happy Easter, my Friend!!
Don’t go beating yourself up!! It would be a full time job to keep track of everyone on here!!
I think the world of you and of many others here, far more than my buddies list reflects, but simply don’t have the time to comment everywhere and to everyone…
I surely don’t mean to slight anyone and I apologize if anyone feels that way…

For myself a Buddy and a Friend is not he same here on LJ we have buddies that we comments on their work and PM once in a while but a Friend is someone that you can trust and PM or email for questions, help, talk about family and it is private between the two.
Here I have lots of buddies but a few real friends Grizz for example is a friend and a couple more on this very page here.
Happy Easter to friends and buddies !

To me, an online / forum buddy is somebody I have struck up a common interest, beyond the norm for the forum. There are a couple of LJs that I have on a buddy list. I read almost (but not all) of their forum / blog / project postings. There are several that I would actually consider “buddies” that I haven’t added to the list. They are just people that I think that if I met them face to face, I would hit off a great friendship with them.

I pray my online buddies don’t get offended if I don’t comment on their posts. I just sometimes (quite often) feel I have nothing of value to add..

I am probably one of the slowest people online to add people to my buddy list. If I have added you, I really do consider you in the category of “friend”. For me, that is a bestowing of an honor to an individual.
