Lollipop Tree

This lollipop tree is the prototype for a cub scout webelo woodworking project. It was built from leftover oak donated by my son’s teacher from last year, so this will be going to her after the boys get started on their trees.

It’s a simple project built from 3/4” x 3/4” stock, with the bottom branch being 10” long and each succeeding branch being 1/2” shorter.

The boys will be learning to cut to length and to drill holes on their project, I’ve already milled the stock to 3/4” x 3/4” and cut the base and star to size.

Shaker Wall Cabinet in Cherry

This hanging wall cabinet was built as part of a series of classes taught by Glen Huey at the Centerville OH Woodcraft store. This was our third project, the first two were a shaker style step stool and shaker wall clock.

The cabinet is solid cherry and finished with Minwax Antique Oil finish. This was my first time cutting a raised panel door and it was easier than I’d imagined. Glen likes using cut nails on projects from this era, so the back is shiplapped and nailed to the case and shelves. The knob is also the lock for the door, you can see the latch in the open position in the second picture.

Shaker Wall Clock in Cherry

This clock was built as part of a series of classes taught by Glen Huey at the Centerville OH Woodcraft store. This was our second project, the first was a shaker style step stool, which was used as an introduction to each other and the tools and workflow we would be using.

The clock was constructed of cherry, with cherry veneered plywood for the door panel. The doors are constructed with bridle joints. The total height of the piece is about 30”. While the clock would normally have small turned knobs on the doors, my wife liked the look before the knobs were added, so they stayed off. The clock was finished with Minwax Antique Oil finish.
