So, my very first blog entry! I just wanted to put down something about my approach to woodworking, as well as in many other aspects of my life. I’m currently re-reading Wilbur Smith’s chronicles of the fictional Courtney and Ballantyne families. I’ve read them at least two times before, but this time I’m reading it in english. At more than one occation, i noticed the word “Gusto”, an looking it up in my kindle’s dictionary, I fell in love with the word: “
“Gusto, Noun: enthusiasm; enjoyment, vigor
“He sang with more gusto than talent.”“
And I thought “This is me!”, and filed the word in my head for further processing, thinking aubout how I tend to plunge out with enthusisasm and vigor in every new subject of interest I happen to stumble across. Some are easily discarded after a short period of time, and others tend to stick with me.
I shure hope woodworking is going to stick, the amount of time, effort and money invested in knowlegde and tools taken in consideration.
Anyway, long before I have created anything worth putting my mark on, I wanted to create something that manifested this seemingly innate philosophy of mine.
I came up with this logo, consisting of the word gusto, with the letter g formed as a fish hook, symbolizing my tend to get hooked on my hobbies, and a stylized heart to emphasize the meaning of the word.
It’s a crude draft, but I’m quite happy with the both idea and form. :)
