I can tell you what this piece of work spammer is doing. He’s trying to cheat and use blackhat tactics to gain page rank. He does this on multple forums and blogs. It fools the major search engines into thinking he is a relevent popular website. This eventually gets caught on and buried by google. But they do get the pagerank for a little while.
This is the fruit of the “Buy page rank from me” guys. All thoses cheap SEO guys. yeah they promise links and viola there they are, not relevent, not worth the money, and really ticks all of us lumberjocks off, and any other forum moderator.
Get a real job
Stop scamming off other peoples hard work
all we have to do is contact google and they get no credit for those links haha, were not just woodworkers you know. Grow up
They don’t phase us we can build a bat to beat them with….......yeah. only thing they build is funk from not showering….... ok i feel better

Clever folks will always find a way to get around the latest checks – but there are ways to reduce their numbers and stop them in their tracks. I hope the owner of this website has cooperation of the webfarm and/or ISP so you can hunt down those buttheads. I remember once I caught someone in the act and called him at his house (there are ways of finding that info). The idiot answered. I told him I was coming over there with a baseball bat and THEN I would send the cops if he did not cease and desist. It worked :)

Ignoring them won’t stop it.
If somebody came a crapped on your doorstep everyday, would you say the same thing?

I sure hope LJs can fix this thing. It is really annoying. Should we stop posting items until it is cleared up?

There are a few things to do here. Most spamming operations are from China and a growing number are from India and the Phillipines. So you can ban those IP addresses. That might be going too far so other things you can do is to rel=”nofollow” all links on the whole site.
I just checked and lumberjocks is not doing this. But this would hurt the ranking of all the legitimate sites that lumberjocks links to. A more complicated solution would be to “nofollow” all links from unproven users. unproven can mean all users less than 6 months or a year old with less than 50 posts or so.
Most spammers like this are only counting on a temporary boost in traffic so by the time Google catches on and penalizes or bans these sites, the spammers have already used it up.
The lumberjocks people can contact me, I’ll try to help them out for free. I love this site and want to keep it spam free.

Cmaeda so no lumber jocks in those countries you mentioned then? I would hate to get lumped in with these jerks if they do indead come from here. The no link idea sounds ok but how will that affect posting links to our pics and u tube etc? Guess there,s no easy solution to this, so for the moment I,ll just continue to ignore them.

I have worked with people that have forums, comments or guestbooks and if its’ really bad, the first thing we do is ban IP addresses from those countries. Then we implement a better solution like the “unproven” and “proven” user methods or the verification image process.
I’m not saying all users from those countries are bad, I’m just saying spammers primarily operate from those countries because they don’t have laws that allow you to prosecute them.
I prefer the proven user method because to the older members of the website, they can carry on as normal. new users would just need to get involved in the website. It kind of rewards members for participating.
