There’s not a lot of people who could name a well known Croatian furniture designer/maker, but the one name that people do know is Kopriva.
I thought it might be of interest to some people to see what style of furniture Croatian designers and craftsmen make.
This is the first in the series.
Kopriva had a bold chunky style with a lot of carved elements. Picking up one of his chairs is not an easy task !

Checked the website. Yep I don’t know any…croatian furniture designers. Might be because I don’t live there. LOL! This one appears to be totally different from your style?

Yep, although I appreciate his workmanship, I’m not really a fan of that particular look. As far as I know, he’s the closest thing Croatia has to a ‘Maloof’
To make it clear also, I’m not Croatian, I’m Australian. Just live here.
In the next instalment of this series I will show some modern Croatian furniture designs closer to what I’m into, and that will probably veer off into a post about a Bosnian manufacturer that’s doing some great things with a mix of modern technology and old style skills.

Ican appreciate what people do with their skills, just I have a different feel for the work. A little like Krenov? Just not very productive yet! :-)
