« Part 2: day 2 of the hunt Part 3 of scavenger hunt series no next part

It’s been a busy week of scavenger hunting and now i don’t have a workshop. I have a salvage yard !!
Not only did I collect heaps of good stuff off the streets, but also helped my step daughters grandmother move out of her vikendica (weekend house). From there I got a lot of wood, some of it oak, and there were also tools, wheels, adjustable feet, screws and bolts and electrical cables and and and and. You get the idea.
Her husband (rip) had a lot of plans but didn’t live to see most of them through.
I had to go out there 3 times to get it all and still need to go once more for some huge block board panels and more pine boards.

Anyway, here’s some pics more now, and after the weekend I might make a short video so you can see how full my space is ! A lot of organizing to do next week.
Enjoy !
Some amazing old veneered panels. I sanded this one off and put some oil on it to see how it looks. Will make a great coffee table.

It’s only pine, but it’s dry and straight and will be my new workbench.

The load on my poor car. A bunch of melamine panels under the pine for shop storage cabinets. Some long beech planks there too.
When will I find the time to build all this stuff ?

Check out this bookmatched veneer ! Destined for some large drawer front.

some cool sloping front drawers, the big ugly green box is actually a dovetailed pine cabinet, but I’ll make a big tool box for the back of my car out of it. An ash kids bed base and a bunch of beech.

some nice grain in that ash.

Some of the stuff from the weekend house.
You’ll notice a black sign. There were heaps of these. Straight flat pine boards painted black on one side with stick on letters. Apparetnly from some exhibition in the 90’s the guy had planned to use for something. Storage boxes and drawers are what I plan for them. Must be 20 mtrs of the stuff at least.

Amongst the tools was this AEG made in germany circular saw attachment. You attach a drill to it. It is extremely well belt and I’m thinking I can make a sharpening system for chisels and planes with it. One day.

I’ll leave it at that now, but there is a lot more. Even got enough wood to build a big table for our terrace and benches. I can also finally install as much light as I need in my shop at no cost what so ever.
I actually couldn’t stop collecting even though I new I was running out of space, but thankfully it started raining and forced me to stop.
Today I actually have a gig doing my ‘real’ job, juggling. So maybe a can buy some tools next week : )

Making 3 sets of windows for the stable renovation out at our farm house at the moment, but will try to fit some other projects in between.
If I can find my tools !

Have your say...
