I built this some time ago and I want to refinish it for my wife. I am almost done and would like to try a new technique that will develop into another skill I hope. Supplies were purchased from local Orange as whiteboard and I stained it an Oak color and couple coats of poly. Moving it in the house and really want it to stand out for the miss’s liking…........ Any suggestions that will help a new comer out? Thanks in advance

I like the size and proportions of the bench. You could sand bewteen coats of poly and then finish off with some paste wax. That hand rubbed look really works well with the lighter stain IMHO. getting that grain to pop is all about sanding between coats.

I’m confused, so you stained/poly’d it, and you want to refinish it, or you just finished refinishing it?
