I’ve been woodworking for 18 years as a hobbyist. I started out in a 10’ x 10’ shared shop at my parent’s home. When we built our home I took the 2 car garage about 400 sq. ft as my new shop area. I was woodworking in this space for about 5 years when I decided to build my dream shop in 2003. The workshop design took around 8 months worth of planning/designing in order to figure out all of the workflow processes and machinery layouts. The final design consist of a 1200 sq. ft CBS stand-alone building, with its own 150 Amps service, central dust collection system and fully air conditioned. The shell construction of the building took me about 8 months to build and then another 1.5 years to complete the inside. I enjoy all kinds of woodworking, and only produce fine furniture for family members. I recently stated learning the art of woodturning. I’m a mechanical engineer by trade and been in the plant engineering field for about 20 years. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others when it comes to either engineering or woodworking. I hope to learn all that I can from each one you and this great LJ’s community.
