I finally got around to organizing my shop this week, although there is still tons to do. It’s a stand-alone, 23’ x 29’ two car garage that’s all mine because we have an attached garage for the wife’s car. Last year I replaced all the doors and windows and put in a ceiling with insulation above it, so the shop is well insulated. Just a few weeks back I put in a window air conditioner that has been a blessing during the hot weather we’re having. I’m currently looking at heating for the winter months and may go with infrared radiant heating, which heats up objects instead of the air.

With the exception of the two table saws, all the other equipment I inherited from my dad, including the 1956 Shopsmith, (which I’ll probably use just for the lathe). I’ll use these machines until I get a handle on actually building things then graduate to the quality machines…at least that’s the plan. For those interested, that’s a Ridgid R4512 TS, Craftsman 315.218290 contractor’s TS, Craftsman 15-1/2” drill press, and a Craftsman 12” bandsaw/sander.

Lots to do, so little time…

It’s a nice open shop and you have some nice equipment. Congratulations.

Nice shop. The white rifle above the window… were you in some sort of drill team?

@ whitebeast88 – thanks, the entire bench came from plans from The Family Handyman magazine. I haven’t quite finished it out yet, but will post pics when I do.

@ joein10asee – The rifle was actually used by my daughter when she was in high school. She was a part of the flag team that performed during half time shows. I have it hung in her memory, along with some other items, as she passed at the early age of 23 in Dec. 2010.

That looks like a great place to work. Enjoy.
