My sister and I commissioned a lady to paint a picture of my moms old home place where she was born and raised. This is also the house that my grandmother lived in until she was 96 years old before moving into assisted living where she lived for another 6 years. The house is still in the family but over the past couple of years it has gone thru some major renovations including new windows and alot more. My sister and I were able to get one of the old original windows off of my cousin who now owns the house to have this picture painted. You can see that the frame has not been touched and shows a few different colors and lots of weathering. Below is an oil painting of the farm house as it used to look back when I was growing up in the late 60’s. It was done in black, white and grey as the original picture was very old. The painting was delayed due to a few health issues of the painter but I think it was well worth the wait. My mom absolutely loved it.

Grant,
This is a precious keepsake. My sister had a painting made of my parents first barn (which is now removed). They were so delighted with it that they came up with two more photographs of original farmstead buildings that they want painted, too. It’s a grand idea for gifts for those who (since they are in their 90s) already have anything they need or want.
Thanks for sharing.
