Having Depth of Foresight….
....having depth of foresight, and the ability of preparation, gives me the understanding that as i look ahead, to that which is seen….so shall my yet be’s, be!

Being busy as a beaver, as I gnaw on bits and pieces of ‘wood art’, which in my mind are just as clear, as when I reach out and take hold of that piece of wood in the flesh. And so I thought that I would post another project that is now in the works.

Now that spring is here, my mind is full of images of wood and the objects of art that are coming forth, and as I have said before, long term-and-short term projects are how I do it!

....here’s one that is now going into ‘the process’....

....and so we flip the piece for an-other view. I first cut this piece of branch wood a little over two years ago, and then last night working late I decided to plane this piece of cherry wood. Originally the color was starting to darken, however after sending the cherry through my planner, the aging process will now be starting over. Still have more of this one cut in longer pieces of branch wood and also there’s some of the trunk still out in the woods. The cherry tree had died and by the time I found it, the wood in some places of the trunk had already started to go punky, however I was pleased and surprised that the branch wood was for the most part still solid….

....and then here is a fast sketch up of the rustic table that will be coming forth, as I also plan on using the cherry for the backsplash area….

Thank you.

Frank

oh I was hoping that you were going to share with us what your vision was for this piece!
Thank you. Thank you. My “anticipation gene” has been running on overload lately.

This is REALLY cool. And we get to watch its progression right from your vision!! I love it

Great Frank. I assume that we’ll have a rhyme on a tag attached to the table. So that they will always go together.

Hi Debbie;
—-well you just got to love the ‘workings of art’ in order to see! And so you went on to say: “hoping that you were going to share with us what your vision was for this piece!”.

And yes, that’s why I gave you that bottom photo as if you or any-one were standing right in front of.

Are you ready for a Latin lesson in the use of the word ‘providere’? Well….and taking a deep breathe Prometheus from whom we get ‘providere’; giver of the sacred fire to mortals stepped forward to explain….(I might also add that two other gifts among the many he gave mortals are; ’the gift of woodworking and all art’)....

Well, back to ‘proidere’; ‘pro’ in Latin meaning: before, in front of, and ‘dere’ meaning: to see….and so by putting them together I now understand that since I am standing in front of that bottom sketch, I also am standing ’in front of the table and I can see clearly what is’!

So now that we know this, we now understand that if one is willing to stand and get what is all-ready there….then that one can now go on and ‘express imagination’ of what is again all-ready there. This is in essence what art is, as I the artist look out on all that is, and mainly this is ‘unseen’ (‘improvisor’=not-seen) to the natural eye of the many others, I go on and take what is mine and bring forth as forthcoming into this place where I create ‘wood art’.

Having said all this, the main thing to remember is that my vision of seeing art can never be your vision….we each must interpret art within our own framework of seeing! So again the circle comes back around and this time you the asker are in turn asked, what are you seeing in that vision of yours….?

Hi Dennis;
—-the only problem I have with seeing the firewood this way, is that I have to keep telling myself that the firewood is for heat and those wood stoves I have, can sure enough gather up an appetite. Still burning wood here, though the temps are sure to rise soon….at least I’m hoping!

Hi Mike;
—-thanks for you words!
Actually as far as Greene and Greene goes…..I practice working with ‘green’ sometimes according to the joinery of, one piece green and one piece dry….makes for a very stable joint.

...and yes you have the soul of a poet….

Hi Karson;
—-well as I tell some folks, some pieces get stories and then there are those pieces that talk to me and give me a poem along with their name, and so we shall yet see, what will be….

And yes be it with story or a poem, they go together with the piece when that piece of ‘wood art’ is bought by an-other! Folks like it that way.

Thank you.
GODSPEED,
Frank
