Defining Design in Wood

....and so I continue finding the numbers that can be assembled out of 2’‘x4’‘x96’’, or as I have now come to see as (2) re-sawed wood pieces of 1’‘x4’‘x96’’....

Designs are the dreams I write//draw on paper, after imagination has come back, from where she flies in the lofty clouded skies of inspiration. No-idea of where this one was going, when I started this one….just let my hands go and my finger’s start sketching….

....and so I dream some more….

The Multi-Purposed 2×4
—-Notes:
1.) 2’‘x4’‘x’8’....(2) 1’‘x4’‘x96’’....
2.) ....so far I have used up (1) 1’‘x4’‘x96’’, with (1’‘x4’‘x15’‘) still left….
3.) .... will re-saw on bandsaw or hand saw into a thickness of 1’‘
4.) ....some of these boards will be bookmatched….
5.) ....will use biscuits and glue for edge joining….
6.) ....’wood joinery’ will be done as?....using?....
7.) ....more to come, after working this stage out of the wood, and all dimensions at this point are open//subject to change….

....now here’s an interesting tool…..I keep and use often in my office….any-one care to guess the name and purpose….

I took these a couple of weeks ago on my last hike out before the snows came….

....just playing with color, which defines ‘spice-of-life’....

Thank you.

Frank

1. That is some design indeed.
2. The tool is an engraver of sorts?
3. That picture, it appears the tree is reaching down for a handful of leaves. A big handful at that.
Thanks.

That’s an electric eraser. Used to use them all the time in drafting class.

Ha, That’s what I get for looking at the pictures on my black berry. I can see it’s an eraser here on the big screen.

—-hello to all….Rob, JP, Karson, Bob;

I hear Bob laughing there….Hehe….after all I did mention that I ”use it often”. I have found it’s faster to hit the button and let the rubber do it’s work….hmmm, wonder if there’s any special meaning in that last statement. Like does my imagination change that often or maybe I just have a hard time putting imagination down on paper. And then to tell the truth, when I’m out of the office and in my shop, I usually just go straight from imagination to the wood.

Thank you all for your comments….and yes, JP got in there for first….
GODSPEED,
Frank
