Red Berry Hearts
....and so this morning I’m off to eat some more and more and….more!

I found these yesterday in one of our gardens out back. We’ve been eating and freezing strawberries galore, and my wife has informed me that I should be eating more and more, since the freezer is filling up. Last year we stopped freezing strawberries after the freezer count reached thirty eight and I’m sure we’re at that number again, plus we’ve probably went over.

Some might wonder why stop at thirty eight, since the freezer can surely hold more….ha! Well let me explain it this way, strawberries are the first to come and though they are now passing out of season soon, we also have all-ready passed through the flower tops of asparagus. Lettuce is coming in and so the diet is consisting of many flowers, berries and greens. The broccoli is starting to come in and it want be long before the snap peas are gracing our taste buds with all their delight.

Next the blueberries will be turning raving colors of blue, as the bushes are all-ready loaded with these berries and then the raspberries will be coming along to pass on their tasty desires. And then lets not forget the blackberries as there is nothing that compares to blackberry and peach perserve. All these berries must find a place in our freezer and then there’s so much….much more.

Broccoli, brussel sprouts, (which are my favorite) chard, spinach, snap peas, green beans….carrots and all the other’s that have a place in freezer of much. Still yet to come are zucchini, summer squash, winter squash, tomatoes, ah yes tomatoes. With the tomatoes we eat to our hearts desire and make sauces, ketchup and then again we can some, along with the canning of berries for freezer jams, jams, jellies and preserves.

I’m sure to have forgotten some-one berry, fruit or green here, but they will not forget me….and so once again I give thanks….

....and stepping back I can now see, what I am enabled to give thanks for….

....all that is before you, taste and see….

Thank you.
GODSPEED,
Frank

Awesome, frank! That’s a nice crop. I haven’t picked strawberries since I was a small boy. I look forward to the blueberry crop. The pictures should entice some memories for my wife. She grew up where blueberries grew like dandilions.

Real food! As treasured in my home as handmade furniture.
