opportunity shop. Both Lowes and HD will put machinery on sale at significant discounts if they are overstocked or have just been in inventory too long. I bought a NIB Ridgid DP15501 for $135 ($150 minus a 10% military discount) because they were clearing out overstock. It ain’t the end all and be all of drill presses but at that price I was able to add an after-market laser, woodworking table, and some accessories all for less than the 3 bones I would have spent on MSRP. Check out my review of the DP15501 if you want to see more.

I recently purchased the Porter Cable from Lowes for 299. After doing my research i pretty much concluded that they had colored the Delta to the Porter Cable colors. I am using it to bore holes for pen turning blanks. The laser(although i dont use it) is accurate, the whole drill assembly is solid, the motor is strong enough for anything im gonna throw at it and the lamp is a nice touch. But what sold me was the ability to put the handles on either side of the machine. Being right handed i liked the idea of being able to hold and adjust my project with my right hand and lower the press with my left. The belt adjustment is quick and easy and the table is easy to adjust, feels solid, and feels secure. It maybe took me 15 minutes to put together with no issues other than it was a little heavy. Overall, i am happy with my purchase.

I have a Delta which I purchased for around $266 and am quite happy with it. I’ve had it for 3 or 4 years, use it every week and have had no problems with it. I’m sorry that I can’t remember the model number and am at work now so I don’t have access to it right now.
