« Part 1: Contemplating and Planning Part 2 of Wall-Hanging Plane Till/Hand Tool Cabinet series no next part

I took a bit of time this afternoon to make a quick model in Sketchup. I’d love thoughts—especially on the door. My plan is to hang it with a piano hinge. Would this be strong enough? Like I mentioned in my first blog post, I’m not planning on mounting anything especially heavy on this door (chisels and/or marking tools), but I’d love some thoughts on this issue.

Also, I’ve decided that it probably makes more sense to store my shoulder planes on the same shelf as the router/plow/skew rabbet planes rather than on the inclined till.

Piano hinges come in a wide range of strengths, including those that will hold thousands of pounds. A hinge selection guide is here http://www.spep.com/public/Webpictures/iStore/images/HingeGuide.pdf
