A geographer and an old veteran of the trades, I am a former remodel contractor, and a handyman. I have been trying to catch up on my projects and get out of business for a few years now so that I can just sit and draw maps until I retire and reserve my shop and tools for projects of my own choosing. Where much of my work has been tile, trim, doors, windows, basements and water infrastructure projects, my passion is woodworking. My current shop was set up on a budget for use with my handyman profession. It is a small shop, over full with old equipment that has served me well both with work and with my hobbies.

I got the notification about your tripod, John. The link didn’t work. Post more Projects. You’re an Oracle. You must not be silent.

I was going to post it as a project but I decided that it is too old for that. I added it to a blog about rebuilding the drafting board that I used to use with with it instead. As I read more projects I am becoming familiar with what qualifies and I should probably post a few things. If I get a chance to repaint the tripod I will go ahead and repost it as a project because it does not seem that many people think to build them.

Thanks Mark. I looked up Oracle. It seems to be some kind of internet information storage deal. I think my mind would better compare to a steel trap, a rusty one, information goes in and can never get back out!

Enjoyed reading your Blog, Fatman. My best friend has been building himself a cabin in Colorado up in the Wilderness ranch area. He’s been making about 3 to 5 trips out there a year for the past seven years and also elk hunts and fishing if he has time. I went out and give him two weeks of my time recently and fell in love with the beauty up there. Fresh Crisp morning air walks down the hill to the outhouse and campfires and sweaters at night.
