A mystery package arrived at the post office !
I was wracking my brain because I could not remember if I had ordered anything that would ship to the PO.
When I got the package I was even more puzzled because it only had the senders last name and zip code on the return address label. The name was somehow familiar but I couldn’t connect it.
As soon as I opened the box it was all clear.
I immediately recognized the beautiful handwork of my friend Patron.

With the holidays approaching fast I begin to repeat to everyone how I do not like what Christmas has become.
It is so commercialized, to me the meaning has been lost, and I wither into my Grinch mode.
My spirit has been kindled for the season by this gift, it is so special to me and has come at a time when I really needed the connection of friends. This is what Christmas means to me. The thoughtfulness of others, and ourselves, to give without expecting, and celebrating the cherished connections we have with others.

Patron you are a blessing in disguise, thank you for this special and exceptionally beautiful box.

I will treasure it FOREVER !

Happy Holidays to everyone,

Lisa

hi lisa

so glad this got to you
hoping things are good with you
haven’t seen you around much

this is by way of saying thank you for being such a good and supportive friend

i hope you like it

i started it when you showed your cab doors with the sunset on on them
after looking them over i wanted to show you another way to do that

and started this as a quick example but had some trouble in the sander
and you finished your work first and it got shelved since then

as things go
i find it hard for me to progress in my work until i finish the previous projects
and this box has been there reminding me of you and our friendship since i came to LJ’s

happy days and holidays too
to you and your family
be well

since being in LJ’s lisa and i became good friends
and she worked thru some of the personal and emotional issues i had at that time with me
thru PM’s and e-mails
the kindness and consideration she gave me and the honest assessment of my issues
gave me a chance to really look at myself in a more positive and worthy way

and one day i too opened a box
and found a pure white piece of holly 3/4×6 1/2×48”
the first gift i received from a friend here

i have asked creator to help me be a better person
and feel that living up to my prayers is my way of doing that
i started this box with saying thanks
and now i am happy to have been able to do just that

have a good holidays all

That was some beautiful holly,
did you use that for this box?
I didn’t even realize the colors were the same as my sunset.
MORE special….

i am being very careful with my wood now lisa
nothing gets cut till there is some way to maximize it
and show it to its best

the answer is yes
i ripped about 2” off one side
and have used that in small pieces ever since

i pull it out and just look at it
when i’m thinking of some project
but know i will just use it sparingly

i can’t believe i used to make whole boxes 20” long
from exotics

i will do a small tutorial about these ‘tiles’
and the ribbons on the side
and post that soon

David,
Obviously you knew I wouldn’t be snooping around.
I would have known this box was for me the second you posted the project. LOL
Looks like I need to spend a bit more time on LJ’s, long overdue….

After reading the tutorial I think this might be something I could tackle….

however
in our present state

maybe we both should get some of those headphones
and stand on the sidelines
and shout at the umpires and players
