I am a 35 year old video game developer in Pittsburgh, Pa. I specialize in graphics and performance programming. I've been really into woodworking for about 5 years. I grew up on a farm and built houses with my dad for family members, so I have always been around power tools, but not until I had my own house did I decide that I should build furniture. Basically I liked the idea of shorter projects (building additions and garages, and houses, and barns, takes time), and I wanted much better furniture for us than we could afford. My wife (Anastasia), son (Harrison, he's new as of 1/7/08), and I live in a fairly small house, so each piece of furniture is custom built for maximum usefulness.
I mostly build projects for family and friends, but occasionally do commission work. Most of the people I know ask about commissioning a piece, but have NO idea of what the work is worth. I teach classes and do demos from time to time at the local Rockler store, and I used to work there part time, which has allowed me to collect a nice set of tools for reasonable $$$.
And here they are, well, some of the big ones anyway...
TS - Powermatic 2000
BS - Jet 18"
Jointer - Jet 8"
Drum Sander - 16-32 Performax
Planer - 13" Dewalt 735
Scroll Saw - Dewalt 20"
DP - 16.5" Delta Laser
DC - Jet DC1100 w/ canister
Air cleaner jet 1000 cfm
And my poor little m-power mini lathe.
I should also include my Domino, which is just fantastic.

Welcome to LJs. With your experience and background you should find this to be an enjoyable experience.
Congrats on the new addition (to your family, that is).

Welcome. Did anyone ever tell you, you look a lot like David Marks? Who is the other guy?
