MURPY’S OTHER 15 LAWS - 5 replies
1. Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak. 2. A fine is a tax for doing wrong. A tax is a fine for doing well. 3. He, who laughs last, thinks slowest. 4. A day without sunshine is like, well, night. 5. Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine. 6.Those who live by...

Help identifying a UFO - 3 replies
Does anyone know what type of insect this is? It flies & is as yet unidentified. It has a wing span of about 5 inches. And it resembles a leaf. It’s been hanging around under my carport all day (since 0800 this morning) & is still there as I write this @ 918 pm. It is not something I have seen around here before. The pictures don...

Latch for plexiglass lid - 2 replies
Hello all. I am planning a small watch box. The sides of the box will be plexiglass surrounded by a walnut frame. The top will be plexi only. No frame. This is a solar powered watch so the plexi will let in plenty of light to the watch. The question is what kind of latch will work best for the top? I would prefer something not too bulky looking ...

WTB Rear rails for Ridgid r4512 - 4 replies
OK. I know some folks will say “upgrade to a better fence/rail system” but that is not an option right now. So I am looking for a right side rear rail for my Ridgid R4512. I am willing to take the whole rear rail (both pieces) if need be. If you have or know someone who has this for sale please let me know. Thanks in advance. Dean

Dado set for R4512 - 8 replies
I bought a “cheapo” 8 dado set a while ago for my Ridgid R4512 & haven’t had a need to use it until now. The chipper blades are an extremely tight fit on the arbor. I have to sort of wiggle them into place although they seem tight enough to screw on. The outer blades fit just fine. My question is “is this normal”...

Upright vacuum info - 2 replies
Is anyone using an upright vacuum with a dust deputy? My wife’s vacuum is a relatively cheap Wind Tunnel. It picks up saw dust better than any shop vac I’ve come across. I wonder how well it would work with a cyclone system? Since I am shopping for a new shop vac I was thinking of trying one out. Any thoughts?

8 hole adhesive sanding discs - 10 replies
I wasn’t sure where to post this question so please bear with me. Does anyone know a good source for 5” 8 hole adhesive sanding discs? Locally I can only find hook & loop 8 hole or adhesive without holes. Maybe they are phasing out the adhesive with holes? I found a few places online but the selection is limited. Any help is appr...

Frog Lube - 0 replies
I just heard about this product. http://shop.velcronius.com/main.sc It is a eco- friendly firearm CLP. I was wondering how it would work on a steel tool table / tools. Does anyone have experience with it or possibly an opinion of if it would be useful? It is plant based & all natural. So no silicone. I see where people use it on knife blades...

Help finding a hooking lumber rack system - 2 replies
I would like to build a light duty overhead lumber rack. My idea is to hang it from the rafters with a hook system that will hook over the rafter then connect to a 2X6 built rack. The idea is to be moveable & adjustable. I hope I am being clear enough. My problem is finding a metal hook that will fit over a rafter board & bolt onto the r...

Nothing Controversial Here - 14 replies
I have been having some licensing issues with the USCG for the past several months (I am a licensed Merchant Mariner). It has taken up much of my free time (virtually no shop time since February or so) & seems to be finally settled. But it got me thinking surely the rest of the world doesn’t have these types of problems just to hold a ...

Corner Bookcase Help - 2 replies
I am planning a corner bookcase for the wife. She found a design she likes but I’ve run into a snag in the design stage : ) There are 3 separate cases: 1 corner unit, 2 side units & also 2 end pieces.
