A couple weeks ago I received a message from one of our fellow LJ’s—Kiefer—Klaus, saying he is planning a trip to visit relatives in the states and he will be driving through my area, hoping to meet up for a bit.
Well things didn’t work out the way we wanted and we never got to meet in person. He had a gift for me so he sent it in the mail. Who would of known that the beautiful mallet Kiefer posted some days ago was intended for me.
When the mail came that day here is what I received.

I was overwhelmed to say the least and felt like a little kid with a new toy. As you can see in one of the pictures the one I was using is not as nice as the one he made. It is easy to understand what friendship is when there are people like Klaus around. Another reason why Lumberjocks is such a great site. I thank my buddy and new friend Kiefer and wish him the best. Maybe some day we will meet up. Thanks again Klaus, Dave

You have a good friend there Dave. Klaus is one of the real contributors here and I too call him my friend.
I also share your hope of sitting down for a coffee and shop talk with him one day…... soon???
We’re only one province (and three mountain ranges) apart so maybe one day …......

Another thing I wanted to mention was the insert of the coins Klaus put on each side of the mallet. One side Canadian, the other side USA. He took a guess at the year I was born and was right, 1952. My wife noticed it right away. Just another reason this makes it a special mallet.

Very nice mallet and a very nice gift. That IS what it’s all about.

Thanks for this Dave and all of you that looked in.
I just got a chance to join as we had a birthday party for my daughter here .
Yes Dave it is too bad the way things worked out on the trip but I sure appreciate the gift you mailed to me at my sons house and will treasure and use it as you can see .

I hope that someday soon we can meet for real and I also hope that we can arrange a larger get together with a bunch of LJ’s ,that would be great and a lot of fun .
I will do a blog on my trip on which I managed to meet with another LJ just up the road from you.
Thanks again for all the goodwill and friendship gift something that will be with me for ever .

You all be well . Klaus /Kiefer
