Well, my progress has seemed to have stalled a bit. All of these attempts are still fairly acceptable and workable, but I’m still missing it on one or two. cuts. Right now I’m using a $25 Crown gentleman’s saw from Woodcraft and it seems to be very easy to be a bit wobbly with it. I think my tool budget next month may need to include a pistol grip dovetail saw. I realize that the most control probably comes from a Japanese pull saw, but the red blooded American purist in me just can’t do it.

Continuing the pursuit….

I think you are doing a great job. I love my Japanese hand saws. If I had children, I wouldn’t love them as much as the saws.

Coming along nicely. Now try to make your middle pin a skinny one to give it that traditional hand cut look.
