I guess i had better come clean and show the organised chaos in which I work using MY part of the garage. The rest is taken up with ‘fridge, freezer, and washing machine. Not the large tidy, well-equipped shops that I see elsewhere.
To get a little more room, I built a shed in the passageway beside the house, which at 24 ft x 4 ft 6 inches is more like a railway carriage. This houses my wood and metal lathes, scrollsaw and mortiser, but also the gardening tools that were originally stored in the small shed that this one replaced.
To save going round via the kitchen and garden, I hacked a hole in the side wall of the garage for a new door.
Now you know why my dream is to have a large shop where I have room for the project under construction as well as me and the tools, but being retired, and working on a limited budget, it will have to remain a dream – unless Ernie (our state saving scheme with prizes instead of interest) gives me a million!

Hey Don,
You have done real well with the space available to you and made a real cosy man cave…good job.

Don, you have managed to put together a nice shop. It looks busy in there but moving the lathes to the shed was a good idea. I agree with Splinterman in that it appears as if you have done pretty well with the space that you have available.
Thanks for the tour. I enjoyed visiting your shop.

Hey, Don, that’s a nice looking shop. Welcome to Lumberjocks.
