Another complicated project. Why do I do this?

Blog entry by Don "Dances with Wood" Butler posted 62 days ago 371 reads 0 times favorited 12 comments Add to Favorites Watch

After completing the involved corner cabinets with built-in tall clock, I now mean to build the next element in this project, the Telescoping Desk.

Its necessary for it to telescope because it has to blend with the profile of the other cabinets, mostly bookshelves, and because space is at a premium in the room itself.

So the desk, closed, is only fourteen and a half inches deep and fifty one inches wide. Highly unsatisfactory dimensions for a desk. But the author of the Honey-Do list asks for a desk here, so this is it.

Oh, why do I do this?

Perhaps I’m obsessed!

I wonder why the picture doesn’t show?

That’s it, of course.
How did you do that?
I thought I followed procedure!

Looks like an involved project. Be sure to show it when done.

When I put your link into a browser, it turned into:
http://www.butlercountryknit.com/telescoping%20desk.jpg
Note that it put a % sign in place of your space (no spaces in filenames).

So I then put the ! on either side:

Whenever I post something with embedded pics, I click on the green Preview button to see if it worked before posting.

I did the preview, but thought perhaps photos didn’t show in the preview mode.
I also didn’t know the “no spaces in the filename” rule.

Patience, please.
I’ll get used to it sooner or later.

Neat idea for a desk, Don. I’m glad you are building it.

Here’s a SketchUp view of the desk, closed up, and integrated with the existing corner pieces.

I’ll be ordering the sheet goods for it today or tomorrow.
