I am new to fine wood working, but have worked with wood all my life. I now have my own stand alone workshop and have been on a tool buying binge for the last few years. I am blessed that my wife encourages me and even buys her own tools. We work well together after we fight out what needs to be done. (She is usually right, daggoneit). After a life of building for others I have reached a point where I want to build for me. My interest lean toward early american furniture but I think my wife has other ideas.

In reference to your bio just do what I do. Tell your wife that as you were building the piece that design changes had to be made in order to accomodate wood on hand, or mistakes that need to be hidden. Of course my wife is so good to me, says she likes anything I make;)
