Yesterday, I had the pleasure of stopping by and visiting with fellow LJ, Grizzman. He lives in a small community about 1 1/2 hours from where I do and I was traveling close by on business. I was able to meet him and his wife. They gave me a tour of their home and then the shop. It was such a pleasure to meet them. Grizz lives in a small house/cabin that he and his sons built. Not only did Grizz build his own house, but he also built most of the furniture that they have in the house. There are some nice pieces in his home, many of which are posted as projects here on LJ’s. In addition, he and his sons also built his shop building. His shop is nice and spacious (compared to mine anyway) and is well equipped. I was kind of drooling over his Delta Unisaw. He also has a very nice woodworking bench that he build himself. When he found out that I liked turning, he gave me a nice piece of holly wood and also a piece of dogwood. I’ll have to come up with something special to make with them.
Thanks Grizz,
Doc

He and I have been friends for quite some time now, but—unlike you—I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting him or his wife, or seeing ALL of the results of his labor and talent.
I’m always glad to hear when a couple of the LJs CAN meet, in the Really Real World.
Thanks for letting us know !

I feel like I know Grizz very well… he is a true friend to those who choose to be his friend.
He is a gentleman and a gentle man. I too wish I could meet him… some day.

it was certainly my pleasure to have docholliday come to my home and my shop , we had a really nice visit and it was so nice to have a fellow wood worker stop by so that we could talk of wood working, doc has a love for hand tools and making the handles for a lot of the tools he has, i hope to someday stop by his place and see his shop and hand tools that he has acquired, some from his dad and his uncle.yes it was a very nice day, thanks for coming by doc , and the offer will always stand for you to stop by with that truck and get some more wood…so far all those who have commented are my wonderful friends here and i thank you all for your friendship…thanks so much…grizz

Doc:
So you didn’t get to sample the sausage and kraut Grizz is famous for? Hey man, lucky escape.
That old Grizzman is one in a million (or 25,000 or so), he’s always very courteous to me and I have a lot of fun with him ….. always joking. I’d love to meet him someday.

That sounds like a wonderful time.
I envy that building his own house, it was always a dream of mine.
Wish I could have been there.
Best thoughts,
