Makita 2040 Planer - 2 replies
I recently bought an old Makita 2040 planer that needs some TLC. I’ve got a local machine shop turning new infeed/outfeed roller shafts (the bearings had worn all the way through and damaged the shafts), but my main problem is finding the inner screws which adjust the spring tension on the rollers. Makita must have two different versions...

Grizzly G1182 - 6" Jointer - 4 replies
I found a G1182 jointer on CL. Asking price is $350. It does have the Shopfox mobile base, and I spoke with the seller who claims it is in excellent condition, but $350 seems steep to me. With the mobile base, I was thinking $275 is more reasonable. Does anyone have experience with this jointer? Is it worth $350?

Walnut v. Cherry - 6 replies
I am currently designing a wine server for our entryway/dining room. Because the server will be visible from our dining room, I want the wood color to somewhat match the color of our existing dining set (see picture). I know the chairs are a stained poplar. Personally, I hate staining and would rather just seal with poly and be done. My ...

3 Phase Delta Unisaw - 1 reply
I found a Unisaw with a 3 phase motor. Of course, not only does my house not have 3 phase service, but do to the location of my panelboard (and the fact that I am currently renting), I cannot even get 220V 1PH power to my garage. I have never seen the inside of a Unisaw; could I swap out the current motor with a 110V 1-1/2 HP motor? In a few ...

Grizzly G0703P - 7 replies
Has anyone tried Grizzly’s new G0703P dust collector. It it Grizzly’s solution to fitting a cyclone in a small footprint. The thing that concerns me is the low flow (Grizzly website claims 750 CFM @ 1.08” static pressure). I currently work out of my 1/2 of our 2-stall garage, but if I can fit it in the space, I would like to...

RIGID JP0610 Jointer - 7 replies
I found a used Rigid JP0610 on Craigslist (asking $285). I have not seen the tool yet, but all the reviews I have read seem positive. I have been involved in woodworking strictly as a hobby for the past 6 years (always paying for S4S lumber), but I would like to start selling my work and hopefully turn it into a full-time endeavor. My quest...
