As one of my beginning projects at the boat school I built my self this Norse style tool box. While very beautiful, it just doesn’t function well for me, as everything gets piled up and I have to dig around to find stuff.

So I built my self this Japanese style tool box inspired by Mafe here on LJ. Is it as beautiful as his? No. Its made out of scraps laying around the shop, and I built it a bit rough because I know I will use the heck out of it at boat yards and work shops. I like it.
I am still not quite done with it. I want to add a small tray that I can set on the mahogany pieces inside the box. Its just long enough to fit my Japanese saws in length wise, and the drawer fits my #4 Wood River bench plane perfectly.

Thanks for looking!

Now that is gonna be a nice build when you finish it. A true woodworkers briefcase!

Same here can’t see the images. I was curious about what a Japanese tool box would look like.

I poked around a bit and found these: Japanese Style Toolbox A couple of them have dimensions or SketchUp models.

Sorry. I had to reorganize my Photobucket account. It was getting so messy. Ill edit this posting later on today and get everything back ship shape.
