I am designing some drawers (ply bottom with solid sides and fronts) and I am curious what is the general clearance you would leave between the drawer and case sides and also the top of the back and the top kicker. I do not want a sloppy fit but I want it to slide in and out with ease. The openings are 13 in wide and 5.5 tall. Thank you everyone.

Bandsaw blade weld - 7 replies
I just purchased a bandsaw a little while back. I was running a 1/4 inch blade on it and it worked great. I switched to a 3/8 for some resawing and when I was setting it up I noticed that when I was adjusting the guides the blade seems to get wider at the weld. In otherwords it is not possible to set up my back support to an accurate spacing. H...

feather board use with TS - 4 replies
I am aware that on a table saw you want to position the feather board BEFORE the blade when doing a standard rip cut so that no binding occurs behind the blade. I am going to build some recessed flat panel doors and I know the inside opening of the hole I am going to fill with the door. I will be using a 3/8 inset and lip. How big do I make the door? I could simply add 3/8 to the sides but that leaves a pretty tight fit. So I am curious on how much “space” I should leave for a good fit? My h...

Bench Vise Mount - 4 replies
I am mounting a jorgensen 10 rapid release vice to the front of my bench. The thing is that the vice is only 2 inches tall and my bench is 3.25 tall. I plan to mount it flush to the top by adding maple plates to make up the difference, meaning they will extend above the jaws by roughly 1.25 inches. Is this a problem? other than making the bench ...
