Part 1: Wood gloat
I was talking to one of the local apple farmers and asked him if he was cutting down some trees and if he was if I could have some of the wood. He gave me directions to one of his fields, told me I’d see a row of cut trees and that I could take down any trees in the next 5 rows to the left of the cut row. Part 2: Free stack of cherry lumber, already dried for 4 years.
Usually I hate phone calls at 7:30 in the morning but when it’s to offer me a free load of cherry it’s worth answering. All of them were stored in a dry horse barn and stickered. These aren’t premium boards having the occasional knot hole or lots of sap wood in a few cases. All of it is rough cut and will need lots on planing but only one seemed to have any real amount of warp.
