The wife told me that I had to build a toddler bed today so I decided to peruse Craigslist and see what turned up. After several searches one caught my eye for 20 white oak boards for 70.00. A couple phone calls later and it turns out the lady was still sitting on them so I hopped in my wagon and headed on over, this was the result

Turns out is was 25 boards, 10 are 1×6-8×10’, one is only 1×4x10, 11 are 1×6-8×8’, two are 3×3x6 and one is 3×4x10. All have been air dried for 4 years. There is some slight twisting and cupping on some of the boards but about 80% of it seems flat, straight and crack free. The exceptions are the three thicker pieces. I might be able to get the toddler bed corner posts out of them but they all have a number of small cracks in them. But all three were also toss ins.

The wagon its self was a Craigslist find, 1000 with a brand new turbo system and a new brake system and a blown engine. 300.00 and a lot of man hours later I did the engine job myself. Sold the wheels for 300 and tossed on the current set from an old car. This was its second major load this week, the first was 2 victorian couches from an auction, one in the back and one on the roof; hence the swedish pickup reference.

You did good, can you say “lucky dog”? Good luck on the build.
