So, after many weeks and months of going back and forth on the type of lathe I was going to buy, I decided on a jet 1642 wood lathe. This lathe had all the features for me, I have been turning for about two months on an old Kraft tool wood lathe. It sucked. Had an old belt speed control, vibrated a lot, and impossible to find parts for. So I had some money stored away for a raining day and bought this machine. I will update everyone on what I find because I know that it would have been helpful to find reviews and blogs on woodworking lathes while in the buying process. I ordered last sunday and it showed up today. I unloaded it and put it together by myself. Not a whole lot to it, I would suggest to ask a friend to help set it up it is quite heavy. 457 pounds. Went together easy, and I was up and running in about a half an hour. Heavy machine, nice motor, I will continue later. I need to get back to turning.
