Slot cutter question - 0 replies
Big Blue had their 1/2” arbor slot cutting arbors on clearance for 6 bucks, so i picked one up…My question is, can I use a 1/4” slot cutting blade to make the grooves in in a stub tenon & Groove door frame? Would it basically be the same idea as if I were using a dado blade – groove flip end for end and grove again to...

looking for a raised panel style name - 9 replies
I saw a really neat design I want to use for my bedroom remodel that I am working on now. Simply put its a panel that sits flush with the front of the rails and stiles and has a groove about 1/8 thick all the way around it. I saw it while I was doing some research on MLCS router bits, but now i cant for the life of me remember the search term...

Webframes - Plywood or hardwood? - 3 replies
In my designing I have been using webframes for my drawer dividers with a solid wood front band. But then I got to thinking…is it ok to use plywood for your webframes? Is it strong enough? I guess what I am asking is is it ‘right’ to use plywood for webframes…

if I am building a drawer frame under the drawer, do I need drawer slides? the clearace between the top of the drawer and the bottom of the next frame is 3/8ths. I was thinking that would give it enough tightness not to tip when you pulled it out. I was thinking of putting small metal clasps on the back to keep the user from pulling the draw...

Over or under designed? - 17 replies
Well I have my initial design done. Now I am curious as to whether it is overdesigned or underdesigned. The project is a total remodel of our master bedroom and this is our first part, a platform bed with integrated drawers. I would value all opinions and criticisms. http://home.mchsi.com/~ecathell/Sketchup/PlatformBed.skp

I am making a shadobox display case. The back sits in a rabbet in the frame. I need to find some of those dohickeys they use on the back of pictureframes to help keep the back in place but then allow the person to open it up if they want to change some things. I have the backpiece flush with the back of the sides, so I need something that lay...
