Cement Floor Solution? - 29 replies I’ve got this hard cement floor that just kills my back. I do use lots of anti fatigue mats, but they just don’t quite do the whole job. It makes a 8 hour day impossible for me to do. Out in the field I do OK. So I want to try gluing down 4X8’s of OSB to just add that extra cushion. Am I missing any thing in my thinking? ( You ... |

Welcome wagon - 12 replies I was looking back and it was a little over two years ago that Karson started the tradition of welcoming new members. Today we have a dozen or so L-jocks ridin that welcome wagon. It sure adds to the neighborly quality of this site. So I wanted to thank you folks, especially Karson. Keep up the good work. |

Import items - 28 replies Got a lumber delivery today for a small job. (Hurray I get to eat and pay bills!) I noticed this note under my 5X5 Baltic Birch Ply which is a very nice product. “Import items are not guaranteed against defects” We keep getting burned but we keep buying the stuff. Repeating the same behavior expecting different results. I did q... |

So how are we dealing with the new economy? - 70 replies I’m scratching my head in this new reality. Hoping I don’t end up having to put on the orange vest and work for the enemy. What are you fellow pros doing to survive. I could feel it coming, just because we only need so many houses, but it sure seems worse than even grouchy old pessimist me expected. A while back I started building ki... |

Know any good entry door hardware? - 5 replies This is a question for the trim guys out there. I’ve been really unhappy with the quality of door locks I’ve put on houses lately. The brand that comes to mind are the kwik set. The ones on my house and shop have failed after a few years of use. Might have something to do with plastic parts! They feel cheap the first time you turn th... |

Just plane too serious - 35 replies Woodworking for me has been a statement that our lives have value. The act of creation is important. The stories of fathers passing this skill on to our kids is more important to me than if someones dovetails are off center. I remember the saw stop drama, the critique dilemma, and tantrums, including my own, at the contest votes. (just don̵... |

I'm a new shade of green - 11 replies I’ve been watching the buzz around Garyk’s little box. In a 24 hour period he got over 1000 views. I’ve only got one project with over a 1000 views and I’ve been here a few years. 4th in all time comments, 6th most favored…just in 24 hours. What a wonderful box. 24 hours guys! I hope fine woodworking takes note of h... |

HP printer Lesson for the day - 28 replies Pounding on top of a printer does not fix it! Then again it worked better than the HP trouble shooting hints did. At least now I have a solution…buy a new printer. |

Grex 2 Inch Pin Nailer - 15 replies Coming out of the box it is a beautiful little gun. I can see it’s well made. I’ve always bought the affordable guns, but for a pin nailer that shots 2 inch pins…Wow I’m willing to go the extra $250.00. When I first used Senco a pin nailer I just loved it. They save time and bring up the quality of a job. I had high hopes... |

Porta-Cable Please Quit Improving Your Tools - 19 replies I’ve stood by Porta Cables Routers. I have about twelve of them. I don’t need a bunch of fancy gadgets on my tools. I just want them to stand up to industrial use. Anyway I had this big set of drawers (about 30) to dovetail. I had my helper run the dovetail operation. Time to put them together and they don’t fit…hum. I... |
