Part 1: First glue ups...
McLeanVA posted a challenge to some of us “Pros” to make his designs…Here is the first part..Milling and gluing up…. I won’t go into all the details … they are here.
Part 2: One and Two.
Just a couple of pics of #1 and #2 and as you can see I downloaded the plans and have included them in the pics. #1.. Standard ZIG ZAG. #2 Thick & Thin ZIG ZAG Please note these are works in progress and are at this stage only a dry fit.. but wet with Mineral Turpentine to colour up…do not comment on gaps or misalignments until they are posted as finished projects..
Part 3: A variation on #2.
I had a few pieces left over after I had made #2 … so I moved them around and these are what I came up with… Again just dry fit wet with MT…
Part 4: Pattern #3 with a Variation
This be the third pattern in the series And my variation on #3 just by rearranging the strips. Remember these are still only dry fit..and wet to show the color and grain… I have however done most of the glue ups.. actually all the glue ups and most of the sanding.. first on the drumsander then on the linisher belt and routed all the edges as well as the finger grip recesses…I can’t wait to finish the final sanding with a ROS… maybe up to 240 grit and l...
Part 5: Last one....
I have made Pattern #5 and a variation on #4 but I will not be making either #4 or #6… they are all so similar and I really did not like the #6… too similar to the others… oh well… to date I have made 7 different end grain chopping boards… nice for the Xmas market… if I can say that.. so here is #5.... And the variation on the #4 And finally one for Blackcherry...You probably can’t see it but when I look out from my door of the workshop…...
