Or actually many good turns…

While in Sydney recently, I was fortunate enough to catch up with a fellow LumberJock, Sam Shakouri who is a member of the Sydney Woodturners… check out there site...

This man is one of the most talented wood turners I have met..

I am holding one of Sam’s turnings, a soccer ball, in my hand…

Many have turned some beautiful work, but only a few have taken segmented turning into the 3D world…

Just a few more pics..

This vase is made from plywood… incredible…

Sam is an amazing man and a very generous one too… When we finally met after such a long time as internet buddies, Sam presented me with a beautiful pen he had turned… as a momento of our meeting…

Sam even grew a few inches for this photo…

With more of Sam’s handiwork with Plywood in the foreground…
Thank you Sam… and look forward to catching up with you next year…

That guy really has some REAL TECHNIQUES he has learned to do!

Just awesome!

Can you imagine the Technique involved to glue-up a Soccer Ball?!

That is thinking outside of the Box!

UnReal!

Quite a display!

Thank you!

In fact, meeting Larry last weekend was my highlight in the big show. We were looking for each other in the crowd until we met. He is very nice man who I have the honour to meet in a commen interest place like the timber show. Thanks Larry for the photos and words.
Also, I would like to thank all L Js who commented on Larry’s blog. You made me feel realy few inches taller without any box to climb up.

Sam,
Absolutely incredibly beautiful turnings.
Joe said he couldn’t imagine the glue up of the soccer ball. He**, I can’t even fathom the math and the stock cutting, let alone the glue up. My head hurts just thinking about it.
Fantastic, amazing work! You don’t need a box, my friend. You stand head and shoulders above, as it is!
And a BIG thanks to Larry for posting his photos and story. This visual treat absolutely makes my day…nay, my WEEK!

Great meeting of two craftsmen. Sam specializes in round eye candy and Larry prefers the flat version.
Looking over the projects of these two men makes you realize that they are real artisans who not only
like woodworking, but can express their feelings in wooden masterpieces. Thank both of you for sharing
your talent with us.
