« Part 1: Woodcraft Gallery .... the intro.... Part 2 of Woodworkers in New Zealand series Part 3: Woodcraft Gallery Part 1 »

Last week while in Christchurch….I visited the local Riccarton Rotary Sunday Markets.

This market is the largest in New Zealand with over 300 stall holders each week… although only a few offer woodwork, it is of a high standard..

Should you find your self in Christchurch make a point of visiting the markets…

I had a small chat with a few of the stall holders and even bought a timber photo frame…

One of the people I spoke with was Judy from Sublime Art.. she is a pyrographer… ie she burns designs into timber….and mdf…

or as she puts it… she draws with fire…

The other was Nigel from Morgan 3D CNC Ltd. where I purchased a Rimu photo frame with an inlay all round in Paua Shell.
He has a small cnc router, laser cutter and engraving machine.

There were a couple who make striped cutting boards… at a very reasonable price.. they did not have a web address but they reckon they do well with the boards..

The other gentleman whose stall I photographed was not in attendance but the work was outstanding…

Once again a small slideshow of the visit…

I hope you enjoy this look at another part of woodworking...

Great show Larry, thanks. I hope you left your card and told them all about lumberjocks. It would be nice to meet them on the net.

Thanks Larry, that was pretty cool. Where did you come across the new slideshow presentation?

Jim, I think it’s supposed to be a chalkboard, when it went to black, I almost had to run a finger across my screen to see if it was that dirty. Ha, ha…. love it!
