I was thrilled this week to get a surprise packet in the mail. Martin sent me a new lumberjocks t-shirt with “Best Craftsmanship Winner” printed on the front, and Obi’s definition of a lumberjock idea on the back. It is a great shirt. Martin said that he was using another vendor for the printing, and I really like the quality on this shirt. The material the shirt is made from is the quality I would expect to get in a souvenir shirt on a vacation trip, thick, soft, and no need to wear an undershirt (if you know what I mean).

The printing of the larger lumberjock guy logo on the front and the lettering has that “old-school” painted screen print look like we all grew up with. Totally Cool.

I couldn’t afford a “model”, nor a photographer, so you just get “me” in both cases.

Thanks again to all of you that voted for my project in the competition, it is a great honor, and something I am very proud of. Thanks Martin for the great shirt, now I have something new to wear to church!

Thanks again, and keep the lumberjocks community alive and growing!

P.S. I was pretty embarrassed to show you my best “hand plane” in this photo. I guess I need to get after building a nice one from a big block of wood.

Easy there, Atlas. You are gonna make me look bad. The plane looks good, (I can’t see any shavings to know if it is sharp or not) but I want to know why you blacked out your shop? Are you safeguarding proprietary technology? I like looking at the backgrounds to see what I can see almost as much as looking at the items in the foreground.

Yeah, I was thrilled to be just one behind you on blog counts until you posted this! With pictures of a new shirt, no less!

I’ve only just found my digital camera (in my sock drawer, of course – where else would I put it?), so maybe this weekend I can get Dana to take a picture or two of me in my new shirt.

that’s funny. I tried to make a few shavings to lay around the wood for the photo, but the plane is so dull it only took out chunks, and I knew that laying them around would show how dull it was. I don’t hardly ever use a plane, only a small block plane, and a small rabbet plane, and neither of the are very sharp either. Something to improve on in the coming years. I took out the background in the photo because I could more quickly blacken it out in Photoshop than I could dust and clean up the shop for the photo. Did you notice I airbrushed the back of my head a little, and selectively cropped the top of the phot? Too bad I couldn’t work on thinning myself down a little, but I didn’t know how to do that to a photo.

Thanks Duane, good to hear from you again.

Ethan, I just use a tripod and a timer feature on the camera that gives me 10 seconds to get in position and smile.

I noticed that I was barely ahead now, shouldn’t have alerted you last week that I was paying attention,

Keep posting,
Mark

”Congrats!” Looking good, even without the shavings.
That back shot looks like Rocky VII.

I know the shirt would look better on me. With my round belly, the words ”Best Craftsmanship Winner” would really stand out – if you know hat I mean. LOL

Nice looking Shirt – How thoughtful Martin! That is a prize worth competing for!

And thanks for the testimonial on the shirt v. the ones from cafepress. Martin had me thinking about moving over to sell there, just wanted some testimonial first… I think this seals the deal – I hate that most shirts need to be washed before they are comfy enough to wear.

Nice job with the photoshoppin’... if you use the clone tool you can do something about that hair… Oh, If only I had something to clone!

Scott: it is funny about the hair. I noticed that I had a broken belt loop that was under my belt, so I cloned another loop to make it look like it was sewn in place, and not missed by the belt, can’t tell now with such a small photo. That cloning tool is pretty handy if a guy doesn’t tell the secrets.
